Water is fundamental to the ecological health and resilience of cities, yet rapid urbanization places increasing pressure on both the quantity and quality of urban water resources. This research theme focuses on sustainable management of surface water, groundwater, wetlands, stormwater, wastewater and urban watersheds through interdisciplinary research and evidence-based solutions.
In Delhi, where declining groundwater levels, pollution of the Yamuna River, seasonal flooding and growing water demand present significant challenges, research under this theme aims to support integrated water governance and enhance long-term urban water security.
